Research and Argumentation
The research and argumentation assignment for this class allows for students to explore various roles within a debate, or argument. Each student picks a role, and they comment on a YouTube video arguing in that role, whether they agree with the role's opinion or not. This allows the students to try and see from a different point of view from that which they are used to. It also allows other people to join in on the conversation, allowing the students to take part in an online conversation which could potentially span across the globe.
They also are allowed to create their own video mashup on YouTube which will use various mediums, such as music, video, and images, to make an argument. Similar to the maxims, the mashup will put forth a set of controlling values which the student is using to argue.
